  • What's a Pack?
    Brand new or unused backpacks with items that are gender and age appropriate are collected to provide refugee children in need. Each Pack that are donated are double-checked for consistency before it is handed out to the refugee children. Please see a below for a list of sample items that can be included in the Pack for each age and gender: Kindergarten Pencil box, crayons, washable markers, erasers, glue sticks, blunt-tipped scissors, plastic folders, assorted construction paper, lunchbox/bag, colored pencils Pre-K to Kindergarten level novels, coloring books, age-appropriate games (ex. Candy Land), children sized musical instruments (ex. harmonica, recorder, etc.; preferably with instruction book), toiletries (ex. Children sized-toothbrush and toothpaste), blankets Grades 1-5 Pencil pouch, black/blue ballpoint pens, pencils, colored pencils, highlighters, erasers, three-ring binder, loose-leaf paper, spiral notebook, graph paper, subject dividers, index cards, plastic folders, book covers, glue, ruler, scissors, personal organizer/planner, lunchbox/bag, colored pencils, Grade 1-5 level novels, coloring books, age-appropriate games(ex. Monopoly), children sized musical instruments (ex. harmonica, recorder, etc.; preferably with instruction book), leisure activities instruction books (ex. Origami, paper plane folding), toiletries(ex. Children sized-toothbrush and toothpaste), blankets Middle & High (6-12) Pencil pouch, black/blue ballpoint pens, pencils, highlighters, erasers, three-ring binder, loose-leaf paper, 3 subjects college-ruled notebook, graph paper, subject dividers, book covers, personal organizer/planner, post-it notes, white-out, lunchbox/bag, calculators (with batteries), High school level novels, textbooks, age-appropriate games (ex. Playing Cards, Catan etc.), musical instruments, AP/Test prep books(ex. Kaplan/Princeton Review), toiletries (ex. Feminine products, toothbrush and toothpaste), blankets Other item Toys, FIRST AID Kits (Bandaids, Antibiotic ointments), used computers, tablets, phones, gift cards to book stores and shoe stores
  • Regulations
    1. Stationary/Writing Materials must be new/unused 2. Used Books/Workbooks must have no writing or doodling present within the text + the general condition of the book must be pretty good 3. Backpacks must be new/unused 4. Clothing must be stain-free and absent of holes
  • Procedures
    1. Buy or find new/unused backpack 2. Fill with sample backpack items + other items that are deemed fit to donate (by you) Optional: Write a small letter or a little motivational post-it and include it in your backpack 3. Be a Mentor

You have an opportunity to become a mentor to these children while donating a backpack: whether it’s educating these kids for a better education or becoming a confidant in their future lives. Guide them and pave their way for future generations.

Fundraise

To contribute to the process of sending these Packs, you can start a fundraising drive near your community whether it’s at your church, school, or a club.
